About Surviving Breast Cancer

Our Story

 

Surviving Breast Cancer was started in Boston, MA in order to fill a gap in breast cancer support, education, and resources. Founded by a young women in 2017, Surviving Breast Cancer now serves those diagnosis, caregivers, and families globally. Leveraging technology and breaking down access and barriers, Surviving Breast Cancer puts people first, listens to their needs, and then sets out to create the programs, services, and educational content based on the needs of the breast cancer community. We continuously are growing, evolving, and advocating and love what we do every day!

Our Mission

 

The mission of SurvivingBreastCancer.org (SBC), a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is to empower those diagnosed with breast cancer and their families from day one and beyond.

 

SBC serves as an educational and virtual community platform- offering support meeting patients and their families where they are on the continuum of a cancer diagnosis.

 

We are founded on three pillar of: Education, Community, and Support Resources. We  approach breast cancer combines evidence-based  medical research with the personal lived experiences of those we serve. From risk reduction strategies and prevention, to treatment, survivorship, living with a terminal diagnosis,  navigating end of life, and beyond, Surviving Breast Cancer is here for you every step of the way.

Who We Serve

 

Breast cancer does not just affect the patient; it affects everyone around them. That is why we develop comprehensive programs, services, and education to meet the needs of:

 

  • Those diagnosed with breast cancer

  • Those living with metastatic breast cancer

  • Spouses, families, and children caring for a loved one diagnosed with breast cancer

  • Spouses, families, and children who have lost a loved one to breast cancer

Milestones

2017

  • The vision was born and Survivingbreastcancer.org was incorporated in MA. 

  • The Board of Directors were established.

2018

  • Survivingbreastcancer.org received it's official 501(c)(3) status.

  • Survivingbreastcancer.org's podcast, Breast Cancer Conversations launched offering weekly episodes to listeners. 

2019

  • 17 community events were held across 11 States

  • 26,106 website visitors were spending time reading blogs, survivorship stories, and gaining valuable educational information. 

2020

  • New programs were created and scaled including our Thursday Night Thrivers support group, the Breast Cancer Book Club, and our MBC webinar series

  • We started to grow exponentially serving the U.S., Canada and the UK and reaching 10,000 subscribers to our weekly newsletter

2021

  • Virtual programs and support continue to expand and now include Movement Mondays, Writing workshops and poetry forums. 

  • Pinkkids launch providing a space for adolescents who have a mother diagnosed with breast cancer or have lost a mother to MBC.
